2012 Durango Melodrama and Vaudeville… Step Back In Time

Tickets are on sale now for the 2012 Durango Melodrama and Vaudeville season—presenting The Two Orphans, a show about two orphan girls who make their way to Paris; one gets arrested, the other falls in love—will they ever see each other again? Being performed June 15 – September 22 at the Henry Strater Theatre located inside the Strater Hotel. Show subject to change.

Director: Jenny Fitts Reynolds

The theatre bug bit Jenny at the age 10 when her 5th grade teacher suggested she audition for a production of OZ directed by local playwright and actress, Sharon French. Since then, Jenny has directed several productions including, Grease, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz, Pirates of Penzance, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Once On This Island, Daddy's Dyin' (Who's Got the Will?), and The Rocky Horror Show for three years right here at The Hank.

Growing up on the stages in Durango, Jenny performed some of her favorite roles; Eliza in My Fair Lady, Nancy In Oliver!, Lola in Damn Yankees, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Dotty Otley in Noises Off, The Witch in Into the Woods, and Aldonza in Fiddler on the Roof. During this time, she also founded the Durango Lively Arts Youth troupe which she ran for seven years. Having returned to Durango after a seven year hiatus, she had the opportunity to perform in the Chicagoland area where she was seen at The Atheneum as Gabby/Bobby in City of Angels, The Bailiwick as Rose in The Christmas Schooner and Lorena Hickok in First Lady Suite, Metropolis as Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Pheasant Run as Mama Morton in Chicago, and Drury Lane Oakbrook in the ensembles of Kiss Me Kate, and Camelot. More recently (and closer to home!), Jenny was seen as Dolly Tate in Annie Get Your Gun at Sandstone in Farmington, where she originated the role of Big Sarah in Anasazi, the Ancient Ones Pageant, and most recently here at the Hank as Violet (the mysterious woman) and Mrs. Lamson in the Durango Melodrama and Vaudeville production of The Tavern.

Jenny trained at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where she earned her MFA in Musical Theatre. She was fortunate to perform the role of Blossom Hart in Something For the Boys as her thesis role as well as to participate in the original cast recording for this project.
